Just Posted: I Have No Name For This

Just more weird flash portrait photography. As always, more on Flickr! I also do nature things. It’s not just self portraits. Promise.

Happy weekend!!!

Golden Dinosaurs in an Unfinished Bathroom

Soooo clearly the last week is one of those weeks in which I remember that I greatly enjoy photography. I like to try and branch out from my normal “trees and nature” routine sometimes, just to see what else I can come up with. Lately I’ve been inspired by two things: The gold dinos that live on my bookshelf and the amateur flash look of American Apparel ads (despite their controversy, I think they use cool techniques).

See above ^^^

So I took advantage of my unfinished bathroom’s white walls and did a late night flash photo shoot. I found the pictures were better when the room was dark, but a few of them worked pretty well when the lights were on. Once I got them into my computer, I upped the brightness, contrast, and highlights to get the extra flash effect. Before we continue, I would like to make a disclaimer that these aren’t the excessive selfies they seem to be, I just have no one else around late at night to model for my photo shoots. So here they are.

And then I guess with these I was trying to say something like “Smoking away a flower is as much a shame as smoking away health because health is beautiful like a flower”????? I don’t know. Something like that. They aren’t supposed to be pro-smoking.

See some other edits on Flickr!

And then give me links to your Flickrs!

Sooooo basically I thought this was a cool composition and wanted to bring some surreal color  and contrast into it annnd that’s all…BUT the other ones are more interesting!

River of Dreams–At first I put it sideways because it looked abstract and cool, and then I realized that this is what the shoreline would look like to someone waking up in the river and trying to get their bearings–my writer/artist imagination takes over with a lot of these photos.

I’ve been thinking about writing a fantasy novel called Starboard, and I edited this picture of a perfectly normal riverbank until it fit the atmosphere I pictured the island would have at dusk. I find that a lot of photos I take with the aim of imposing my imagined/edited atmosphere onto them so that they match the magical places in my head, which are usually enhanced versions of the “real world”.

Until next time frands (Then I will be sharing some golden dinosaur themed photos),

Just Posted: These Three

Bee Still, as per usual light leaks and a vintage filter. (I now realize that I should have made this a profound Save The Bees moment.) I found this guy perfectly preserved in the bottom of a wodden box while I was cleaning out my camper. This camper also has a vintage floral couch, and I thought “Hey! Opportunity for an indie photo!”  I buried him afterwards with some honeysuckle, because the littlest creatures deserve honor, too.

#indietrash#proud flickr Sunsplosion, yet another leak and a warm filter. Took this biking home (my favorite time to do anything outside is around sunset because HELLO MAGIC) and could not resist. flockrrrr A Morning for Adventure, amazingly, NO leaks! Taken on the morning of a family trip to Maine, which was, indeed, an adventure. Find more on Pinterest and Flickr! (links) ❤ Morgan

Just Posted: Lollipopped

Aloha frands…in an effort to get myself back into photography which is something I love but never give myself time for, I’m trying to upload a new photo to Flickr every other day, and also to share it here. Sooo today’s photo is Lollipopped, and is literally me behind a lollipop on vacation. As one does. On vacation. I used pixlr for editing with a soft canvas overlay and muted vibrancy. Whee!

Check it out (and a bunch of other ones) here!
Also give me links to your photos so I can say hi!!
